Introduction

At Temasek, sustainability is at the core of everything we do – from our mandate to deliver good sustainable returnsvalue over the long term, to our strategy of how we operate as an institution, shape over portfolio, and engage our portfolio companies to build sustainable businesses.

 

In partnership with various teams across Temasek and our broader ecosystem, the Sustainability Group initiates, develops and implements strategies to build a climate-resilient, net zero portfolio and to enables nature positive and inclusive growth; catalyses new business opportunities and solutions that contribute to sustainable development; advances thought leadership and engagement on sustainability topics; and supports our growth as a sustainable organisation to create shared value aligned with our mandate of generating good sustainable returns over the long term.

 

The Sustainability Group comprises of the following sub-teams and partners with the investment group and functional teams to strengthen our sustainability capabilities and ecosystem.

 

The Sustainable Solutions team catalyses the decarbonisation of Temasek's portfolio by developing the commercial and innovation thesis for emerging climate solutions. The team's mandate is anchored to Temasek's 2050 net zero ambition and is focused on sectors where structural decarbonisation challenges persist, including green hydrogen, low-carbon fuels for aviation and maritime, advanced nuclear, heavy industry electrification, advanced geothermal, data infrastructure energy efficiency, and water efficiency, among others. 

Responsibilities

  • Support opportunities in Sustainable-Living trend-related investments that can help retain optionality and strengthen connectivity with Temasek Portfolio Companies.
  • Develop new pilots that support Temasek’s ambitions in decarbonisation and climate.
  • Support senior engagements with Temasek Portfolio Companies to improve their climate transition readiness, and to align with science / sectoral decarbonisation pathways.
  • Track technology, policy, and commercial developments globally and distill findings into actionable intelligence for the wider Temasek ecosystem.
  • Engage portfolio companies, technology developers, policymakers, and global counterparts to validate assumptions, surface opportunities, and advance solutions.
  • Drive analysis and solution development across assigned clean energy sectors, spanning technology evaluation, technoeconomic modelling, commercial thesis construction, and ecosystem enablement.
  • Lead and manage initiatives from problem definition through to execution, with full accountability across complex, multi-stakeholder workstreams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's in science, engineering, or business. Cross-disciplinary backgrounds are welcome.
  • Minimum six years of relevant experience in clean energy, investment, or corporate transition strategy.
  • Strong systems thinking capability, with the ability to integrate technical, economic, policy, and strategic considerations into a coherent analytical view.
  • Familiarity with corporate transition strategy, technoeconomic analysis and investment evaluation is an advantage.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder projects with rigor and precision.
  • Working knowledge of the Singapore ecosystem combined with active awareness of global developments across relevant sectors.
  • Sound judgment and the ability to operate with autonomy, calibrating pace and approach to the demands of each workstream.
