Introduction

The Macro Strategy team provides the macroeconomic outlook (growth, rates, FX) and global equity strategy for the firm. 
 
As part of the Portfolio Strategy & Risk Group (PSRG), which actively guides the firm's investment activities at the portfolio level, the Macro Strategy team contributes by providing macroeconomic and broad equity market projections to help guide the broad investment stance of the firm.  
 
In addition, the Macro Strategy team also originates direct macro investment ideas or hedging strategies (thematic equity baskets, fixed income and FX trades), provides support to the various deal teams across Temasek for any macro inputs they might require, and assists in scenario development and the projection of Temasek’s long-term equity returns. 

 

Responsibilities

The team consistently monitors the broad global macroeconomic environment and key financial markets relevant to the firm’s portfolio, across different asset classes.
 
We are looking for an intern on 6 - 12 months basis, who will assist the team on its macro and financial market surveillance of key markets, such as the US. Specific responsibilities can include:

  • Review new economic data releases and monitoring of news, assessing their impact on our current macroeconomic and market views
  • Assist in economic and market analyses
  • Provide support for preparation of research documents for internal circulation and updating of internal macroeconomic models
     
Requirements
  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in economics, finance, or other quantitative disciplines
  • Candidates should have a high level of analytical skills, display a strong sense of intellectual curiosity, and be adaptable in a dynamic working environment
  • Prior work experience in economic or finance, with statistics skillsets will be advantageous, though not necessary
