Introduction

The Financial Management (FM) team serves as a steward of Temasek's financial assets, ensuring that our reserves are protected and that financial decisions align with the organization’s long-term strategy for sustainable returns. 

We are seeking an innovative and strategic Director of Financial Management to lead the financial strategy and operations of our US office. In this key leadership role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams, influence decision-making, and help shape the financial future of the company. If you thrive on solving complex financial challenges, delivering insights that drive value, and partnering with diverse stakeholders to create measurable impact, this is the opportunity for you.  

Responsibilities

1. Business Partnership

  • Build trusted relationships with the Market Head of Americas and business leaders to understand financial needs and challenges.  
  • Provide actionable financial insights to support data-driven decision-making.  
  • Facilitate cross-company synergies by leveraging benchmarks and best practices.  

2. Strategic Financial Planning and Budgeting 

  • Design and implement financial planning and budgeting processes aligned with organizational goals.  
  • Collaborate with market and business units to develop scenario-based financial strategies.  
  • Stay ahead of industry developments and regulatory trends to identify opportunities and challenges.  

3. Portfolio and Financial Performance Reporting

  • Deliver timely, accurate, and insightful financial and portfolio performance analysis (Team P&L and costing allocation).  
  • Highlight key performance indicators, risks, and opportunities to drive transparency and accountability.  

4. Regulatory Compliance and Process Innovation

  • Establish and maintain robust financial policies and procedures to ensure compliance and sound management.  
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and technology efficiencies, applying agile and innovative approaches.  

5. External Stakeholder Engagement

  • Manage relationships with auditors, banks, and regulatory agencies to maintain trust and alignment.  
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; CPA and/or CFA preferred.  
  • At least 15 years of senior financial management experience in dynamic and complex business environments.  
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and execute financial strategies that drive long-term success.  
  • Deep expertise in financial management principles, with a track record of success in strategy and operations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of interpreting and synthesizing complex financial data. 
  • Creative mindset to drive innovation and foster a culture of continuous improvement.  
  • Proven leadership and communication skills to inspire and mentor high-performing teams.  
  • Collaborative approach to building partnerships across departments to achieve organizational goals

 

Salary Range: Base salary of US$185K – US$250K per annum (compensation structure includes various additional incentives payable in April, August and October annually)
