Associate/Senior Associate, Investment (Financial Services)

Introduction

The Financial Services team within the Investment Group is looking for a junior investment professional (Associate), based in New York City. The candidate will be a core part of the investment team that evaluates public and private investment opportunities in the financial services sector across verticals such as payments, capital market infrastructure, financial software, wealth management and insurance services.

Responsibilities

• Evaluating investment opportunities in companies spanning several sub-sectors and across capital structures
• Performing deal evaluation, due diligence, company/industry analysis and research
• Extensive financial modeling including detailed commercial and financial drivers, 3-statement model and valuation/returns analysis. 
• Preparing investment materials including memos, briefing decks and committee presentations
• Portfolio monitoring and management including closely tracking performance, market trends, regulatory changes and ongoing value creation opportunities 
• Establishing and cultivating relationships with companies, GP partners and other relevant institutions

Requirements

• At least 1 year of work experience with a top-tier investment bank, private equity, corporate finance/M&A, or investment research firm
• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Finance, Accounting or Economics
• Strong analytical abilities, corporate finance knowledge, commercial acumen and highly proficient financial modelling skills
• Strong communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills 
• Strong work ethic, positive can-do attitude with high degree of intellectual curiosity
• Self-starter with a proven ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently
• Able to work well within diverse teams and deal with multiple stakeholders
