Introduction

The Investment Review team conducts in-depth diligence and analysis of significant potential investments in private and publicly listed companies across industries and geographies.

 

Its mandate is to assess the financial merits of each opportunity and provide the Investment Committee with an independent perspective on the risk-reward profile, complementing the view of the originating investment team.

 

The role combines rigorous financial analysis and due diligence with the ability to form a clear, independent investment view. It offers broad exposure to complex, high-impact investment decisions across Temasek’s global portfolio. The team is part of Temasek’s Portfolio Strategy & Risk Group.

 

Given the team’s close engagement with Temasek’s senior leadership, the ability to distil complex issues, exercise sound judgement and communicate with clarity and conviction is essential. This role provides a unique opportunity to support the Investment Committee and contribute directly to some of Temasek’s key investment decisions as well as to the ongoing analysis and monitoring of portfolio companies to identify opportunities for timely value creation and exits.

Responsibilities

The Assistant Vice President will:

  • Lead the assessment and project management of investments while collaborating closely with investment teams throughout the diligence and approval process
  • Assess business drivers, industry dynamics, diligence findings and valuation to form an independent view of investment opportunities. Participate actively in investment due diligence (“DD”). Assess DD scope, provide interim inputs, and participate in DD meetings. Independently form a view on the business case and reasonability of financial forecasts
  • Prepare preliminary assessments, drawing on interim diligence findings and working with investment teams to identify key focus areas and diligence gaps. Prepare clear, insightful Investment Committee materials highlighting key risk/reward considerations and range of outcomes
  • Build and review financial models for valuation, returns and scenario analysis
  • Monitor and analyse portfolio companies to support value creation and timely exits
  • Take a lead in scoping out, delivering wider institutional / team projects, including projects that enhance investment review processes and knowledge sharing 
Requirements
  • Degree in finance, economics, business, accounting or another quantitative discipline
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience in private equity, M&A investment banking, leveraged finance, or investment evaluation roles
  • Substantial experience in running commercial and financial due diligence processes for transactions
  • Strong understanding of valuation methodologies and investment fundamentals, experience in running including DCF and LBO analysis
  • Ability to quickly understand business models, industry dynamics and key value drivers across sectors and geographies
  • Strong commercial and investment judgement, with the ability to assess opportunities holistically and form an independent view
  • Excellent analytical skills with proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Clear and confident communicator, able to distil and present complex investment considerations to senior stakeholders
  • Maturity and influencing skills to engage constructively with various teams across the firm and senior colleagues
  • Highly driven, intellectually curious and comfortable working under tight deadlines
  • Collaborative team player with the ability to think independently and take ownership
  • Fluent English; international experience is advantageous but not required
