Introduction
The position, Senior Associate, Institutional Relations, will support Temasek’s Institutional Relations team in China with baseload work, including assisting in engagement with government agencies, think tanks, and other stakeholders, participating in macro policy research and analysis, and providing policy and government relations support to investment teams. This role is ideal for candidates with experience in policy research or government affairs who seek to further develop their career on an international platform.
Responsibilities
Macro Policy Research and Analysis
- Assist in tracking China’s macro policies, regulatory developments, and geopolitical trends, and analyze their potential impact on the company’s investments and strategy.
- Support the drafting of policy briefs and updates, e.g. data collection, fact-checking, and initial drafting. The policy updates are reference points for senior management and investment teams.
- Assist in interpreting policies and regulations related to industries relevant to the company’s investments.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Assist the team in maintaining regular engagement with government agencies, regulators and think tanks, including meeting preparation, event execution, and related support tasks such as preparing briefing materials, drafting meeting notes, and coordinating guest invitations.
Investment Facilitation
- Provide policy support based on specific needs of investment teams and assist in collecting and analyzing relevant foundational information.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or above in Public Policy, International Relations, Economics, or related fields; Master’s degree preferred.
- At least 3 years of relevant work experience; prior experience in government affairs, policy research, or institutional relations within international companies or large enterprises is preferred.
- Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to extract and convey complex information clearly.
- Excellent bilingual (Chinese and English) written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in digital office tools (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and basic ability to use AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, translation tools, information organization tools).
- Strong self-motivation, teamwork, execution capability, and resilience; able to work independently in a fast-paced, cross-cultural environment with an open mindset to integrate into diverse cultures.
