Introduction

We are seeking an Associate/Senior Associate to join Temasek’s Public Markets Cash team in a Front Office Support role, supporting and strengthening our global execution capabilities.

 

The Public Markets Cash team is part of the Investment Group and is responsible for the execution of Temasek’s cash equity and listed delta-one positions across global markets. The role provides broad exposure to the investment and trading process, including how instruments such as single stocks, baskets, ETFs and futures are traded and managed across their lifecycle.

 

Beyond supporting day-to-day trading activities, the role will have a strong focus on process improvement, data analytics, automation and the practical application of AI. The successful candidate will work closely with traders and cross-functional partners to identify opportunities to simplify workflows, reduce manual touchpoints and develop scalable solutions that improve the effectiveness of the trading platform.

 

The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong attention to detail, an analytical mindset and a keen interest in markets, technology and process improvement. He/she should be comfortable working across different functions, translating business requirements into practical solutions, and experimenting with new tools and technologies.

Responsibilities

Trading & Front Office Support

  • Manage and coordinate pre- and post-trade workflows to support the trading desk.
  • Coordinate trade logistics with internal stakeholders including Operations, Compliance, Legal, Risk and Technology.
  • Run pre-trade simulations and work with Compliance and relevant stakeholders to investigate and resolve trading blocks.
  • Support onboarding and readiness for new securities, markets, counterparties, IPOs and other transactions.
  • Assist with trade booking, data enrichment, execution tracking and preparation of end of day (EOD) execution summaries.
  • Monitor relevant corporate actions and other operational requirements relating to live positions and trades.
  • Support basket and portfolio trading workflows, including order preparation, validation and execution-related logistics.

Automation, AI & Workflow Enhancement

  • Identify opportunities to automate repetitive or manual trading and operational processes, improving efficiency, scalability and control.
  • Support the development and enhancement of digital order workflows, including e-ticketing and basket order processes, to reduce manual touchpoints and improve straight-through processing.
  • Explore and apply AI tools, including generative AI, to improve front-office workflows across areas such as data analysis, information extraction, reporting, workflow automation and knowledge management.
  • Prototype and test new solutions and use cases, working with traders, Technology and other stakeholders to assess feasibility and business value.
  • Translate front-office requirements into clear functional specifications and participate in UAT, implementation and ongoing enhancement of trading systems and tools.
  • Document workflows, controls and SOPs associated with new or enhanced processes.

 

Data, Analytics & Trading Infrastructure

  • Develop, maintain and enhance execution analytics, dashboards and management reporting.
  • Maintain and improve existing trade blotters, EOD reporting tools and front-office datasets.
  • Support the preparation and analysis of broker performance and broker voting, including methodology, data aggregation, reporting and process improvements.
  • Develop tools and analytics that enable the team to spend more time on higher-value trading and investment activities.

Cross-Functional & Strategic Projects

  • Work across Front Office, Operations, Compliance, Legal, Risk and Technology to deliver process and platform improvements.
  • Act as a bridge between business and technology teams, helping ensure solutions address practical front-office requirements.
  • Support trading platform upgrades, system implementations and other strategic initiatives.
  • Contribute to projects aimed at improving the scalability, resilience and efficiency of the global trading platform.
  • Proactively identify new technologies, tools and approaches that could improve how the desk operates.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in a front office, middle office, trading support, investment operations, business analyst or similar role.
  • Strong interest in financial markets, trading and technology.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work with large datasets and translate analysis into actionable insights.
  • Good understanding of portfolio management systems (PMS), order management systems (OMS) or other front-office trading platforms.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel, with exposure to VBA, macros, Power Query or similar automation tools.
  • Familiarity with programming or scripting languages such as Python, SQL or equivalent.
  • Experience with data visualization and analytics tools such as Tableau or Power BI is a plus.
  • Familiarity with AI tools, including generative AI, and an interest in applying them to financial workflows, analytics and process automation.
  • Ability to understand business processes, identify inefficiencies and develop practical solutions.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to work effectively across multiple functions.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable and comfortable taking ownership of projects from problem identification through implementation.
  • Familiarity with financial data platforms such as Bloomberg, FactSet or Capital IQ is a plus.
