Introduction
This role based in Singapore will join an existing team responsible for handling Employee Tax and Payroll across countries globally.
Responsibilities
Employee Tax
- Assist with tax advisory to internal stakeholders (including but not limited to local hires, international assignees, permanent transfers and business travellers) on tax/employment arrangement and ensure tax efficiency/compliance, while balancing the needs and priorities of the firm and the stakeholders.
- Work with the tax vendors to ensure tax compliance (which includes preparation of authorisation listing, compensation collation, review of tax returns) for our employees, handle tax queries, review tax bills and arrange for the tax payments.
- Assist with the review of tax/social security positions related to compensation items to ensure compliance with the legislation across our offices. Where required, partner with external advisors and internal functional teams, to manage risk and ensure compliance.
- Preparation of hypo tax and tax cost estimates
- Preparation/review of tax return filing for non-resident professionals/directors
- Assist to manage the tax vendors including handling the invoicing.
- Assist with the review/preparation of tax policies.
- Assist to monitor changes to the employment tax law regime and do impact analysis on the reporting requirements and recommend changes as needed.
Payroll
- Review of payroll instructions and draft payroll reports
- Prepare payroll funding templates
- Prepare payroll variance reports for management approval
- Prepare general ledger reports for submission to finance
- Validate payroll vendor invoices
- Payroll system testing
Requirements
- At least 3-5 years’ of relevant experience
- Possess a positive attitude, resilience, independence, excellent attention to detail and strong communication skills
- Proven track record as a team player who can thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
- Advanced proficiency in MS Office applications
- Has a good understanding of the tax/social security concepts in Singapore. Experience in handling tax/social security matters of other countries would be a bonus. Is a self-starter and is enthusiastic to learn about the tax/social security laws of other countries.
- Demonstrates creativity in the evaluating employment tax/social security matters and suggest possible alternatives.
