Introduction

The Strategic Initiatives ("SI") investment team invests meaningful capital behind new markets, business models and secular themes before they become mainstream investment categories, pursuing opportunistic and thematic opportunities across emerging asset classes and frontier themes that may fall outside Temasek’s traditional sector coverage. Recent focus areas (and transactions) include AI Infrastructure (e.g. AIP / Aligned Data Centers), and Sports (e.g. American college football).

SI underwrites, structures and executes differentiated, high-impact opportunities that "move the needle", across a variety of transaction formats, including direct/co-investments, fund investments, as well as strategic partnerships, joint ventures and collaborations. Through these investments and partnerships, the team seeks to generate long-term compounding returns while expanding Temasek’s reach, influence and franchise value.

The team works closely across key teams in Temasek, including Temasek Global Investments (TGI), Temasek Singapore (TSG) and Temasek Partnership Solutions (TPS), to deploy catalytic capital into opportunities that strengthen Temasek’s market positioning and long-term strategic relevance.
