Introduction
We are looking for an experienced AI engineer who builds solutions together with the people who use them. You will work directly with Temasek’s investment and operations teams: understanding how they work, shaping problems with them, prototyping in front of them, and taking what works all the way to production.
You will spend a significant share of your time with users, and the rest building and running the agentic AI systems behind those solutions. These are systems professionals depend on for real decisions.
Responsibilities
- Work alongside investment and operations teams to understand their workflows and decisions first-hand, and shape each problem with them before building.
- Prototype quickly in front of users and iterate on their feedback, taking solutions from first prototype to reliable production.
- Design and build agentic AI systems end to end: agent orchestration, tool calling, retrieval (RAG), user interfaces, and integrations with enterprise and investment data systems.
- Build evaluation with users, turning domain experts’ judgement into evaluation sets, test cases, and guardrails.
- Run what you build in production, with strong observability, testing suited to non-deterministic systems, and safe failure with clear human escalation paths.
- Own adoption after launch: track usage, see where solutions fall short, and keep improving them.
- Turn repeatable patterns into reusable components, including new tools for Temasek’s MCP server ecosystem.
- Explain technical trade-offs (accuracy, latency, cost, limitations) in terms users can act on.
Requirements
- 7–10 years of engineering experience, including at least 3 years in AI/ML engineering, with hands-on delivery of LLM-powered products in production.
- A track record of building products directly with end users: running discovery, prototyping with them, and changing direction based on what you learn.
- Production-grade code across the stack: Python (e.g. FastAPI) and TypeScript (e.g. React, Next.js), with working knowledge of cloud deployment, containers, and CI/CD.
- Hands-on experience with agentic frameworks and SDKs such as LangGraph, the Claude Agent SDK, or the OpenAI Agents SDK, plus LLM evaluation and observability tooling.
- Comfort working with senior, time-pressed professionals without a PM in the room, and the confidence to challenge a request when there is a better solution.
- Curiosity about how investment and operations work, and a willingness to learn the domain deeply.
- Clear communication with engineers and non-technical users alike.
- Calm, sound judgement when the stakes are high.
