Introduction

Investment Services (IS) serves as a value partner by delivering end-to-end investment support services to advance investment strategies. With a focus on operational excellence and scalability through digital innovation, IS bring together all investment support services spanning from deal advisory, valuation, trade and life cycle operations, enterprise and core data management, data and analytics enablement, investment accounting and sustainability reporting to deliver business outcomes.

The Business Partnerships team elevates business units through strategic partnerships and engagement in pre-deal support through the investment engagement process, and acts as Investment Services contact point in managing new assets on-boarding, new strategy launch, platform set-up. At the same time, the team oversees the valuation and impairment process and strive to be the centre of excellence for valuation.   

 

Responsibilities

Investment Services is seeking a highly-motivated individual who’s willing to work and learn in a fast-paced environment, to join the Business Partnership (“BP”) Pillar. The individual will support the Valuation Centre of Excellence within BP in the valuation and impairment assessment process, working alongside our internal teams and external partners. He/she will also be supporting the investment engagement activities, especially on pre-deal matters for structuring, valuation, accounting and reporting considerations.    

The individual will report directly to the Pillar lead and to the Head of Investment Services.   

  • As part of valuation assessment of portfolio, review valuations performed for various assets across different sectors/ markets/ structures  
  • Review the valuation framework and process in place, ensure the robustness of the framework and alignment with best practices. Identify improvements to address gaps in operational risks 
  • Drive and implement new initiatives to enhance processes and derive solutions to ensure work flow efficiency and controls to address operational risks 
  • Analyse market data, financial statements, industry trends that impact the underlying inputs of the valuation methodologies and assessing the valuation impact  
  • Work closely with other teams (investment groups, finance, risk) and external auditors in addressing valuation related considerations  
  • Prepare valuation reports and presentations to communicate findings, assumptions, and conclusions to internal stakeholders and external parties 
  • Support investment engagement activities for projects, pre-investment, in areas around structuring, valuation, accounting and reporting considerations 
  • Participate in due diligence exercises for potential acquisitions/ investments. Assess the financial viability and impact on valuation of the target assets  
  • Active tracking of asset performance with other teams and developing insights from the comparison of performance against investment thesis   
  • Stay informed about relevant valuation standards and guidelines, such as International Valuation Standards (IVS) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and accounting standards.  

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent education experience, with focus/ exposure in accounting or finance certifications (CPA / CFA/ CVA)  
  • More than 5-6 years of transaction advisory, valuation experience and/or investment banking
  • Experience with preparing /reviewing investment model assumptions  
  • Extensive knowledge of accounting standards and valuation principles, with a keen interest on the development driven by changes/ evolvement  
  • Ability to learn and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and able to work independently and under time pressure  
  • Experience in automating work process/harnessing technology to improve work efficiency 
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel & Powerpoint  
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills. Must have the ability to contribute in meetings and be well versed on activities and issues within business processes
