Introduction
Global issues such as resource scarcity, demographic shifts, rising populism, nationalism and protectionism, great and regional power conflicts and climate change will redefine societal expectations, public policies and regulatory frameworks. These will impact Temasek’s ability to operate effectively as an active investor and shareholder, a forward-looking institution and a trusted steward; and also shape the way we project ourselves to our stakeholders.
Institutional Relations Role:
In support of our objective to build and enhance our institutional relations across Asia & globally, the successful appointee will join the team based in Singapore in deepening and enhancing Temasek’s stakeholder building efforts, including managing and evolving engagement platforms. In addition, the candidate will be responsible for analysing and providing assessment of global/local strategic issues, including geopolitical and economic developments, as well as building up Temasek’s network of partners so as to expand Temasek’s investable space.
The candidate is also expected to plan, organise and manage Temasek’s stakeholder engagement platforms, in support of our objective to build and enhance our institutional relationships globally. Through the course of work, the candidate will need to work effectively with colleagues from other teams across Temasek and our wider ecosystem. The prospective candidate should possess a deep interest in a wide range of issues and the interplay between business with politics, technology, sustainability and trade.
Responsibilities
- Identify and map key stakeholders (such as political leaders, government officials/regulators, corporate partners, think tanks and media) who can/will influence Temasek’s projects in priority markets e.g. Singapore, US, Europe, Southeast Asia (SEA) and East Asia as well as develop engagement strategies to strengthen Temasek’s network of partners
- Track and monitor strategic issues in priority markets that affect Temasek’s investment space
- Monitor and analyse international issues (sovereign wealth fund and state-owned enterprise debate, sustainability and FTAs) that might impact Temasek’s business interests
- Engage key stakeholders and other multilateral/international institutions on issues important to Temasek
- Organise and manage delegation visits to Temasek by foreign government/corporate visitors, including the preparation of meeting briefs and presentations
- Plan, organise and manage engagement and networking platforms, including major Temasek-initiated conferences/seminars
Requirements
- Degree in International Policy, Law, Economics or related field
- At least 5 years of relevant working experience in international / government / trade relations, with good knowledge of protocol management
- Prior working experience in another SEA market and fluency in a SEA language would be an advantage
- Strong analytical, presentation (written and oral) and project management skills
- Excellent interpersonal and effective communication skills – generate buy-in and results
- Able to multi-task, good team player and meticulous at work
- Ability to learn and thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
