Introduction

 

The successful candidate will be part of the dynamic Investor Relations (IR) team, which engages stakeholders to drive Temasek’s strategic agenda across diverse governance, policy, fund raising and credit matters. IR’s stakeholders include credit rating agencies, bond investors, Temasek’s shareholder, the President’s Office, as well as Temasek senior management. The candidate’s initial focus will be on credit analysis and credit rating agency engagement, and depending on interest and opportunity, to progressively expand into Debt Investor Relations. Over time, there may also be opportunities to broaden into Debt Capital Markets and other areas of Treasury. 

Responsibilities

  • Take a holistic view of Temasek’s credit profile and credit rating frameworks to develop an overall credit positioning strategy which is professionally communicated to internal and external stakeholders
  • Manage strategic engagements with credit rating agencies, including constructive challenge and technically rigorous discussions on the application and interpretation of rating methodologies to ensure fair, robust and sensible assessment of Temasek’s credit quality.
  • Develop and position a coherent, compelling and credible credit narrative for Temasek, including clear storyboarding of key messages.
  • Perform internal credit analysis, exercising sound judgement in developing assumptions and assessing sensitivities, with a focus on clarity of narrative and securing stakeholder understanding of assumptions used and implications.
  • Lead in-depth research on credit rating methodologies, developments in the credit rating space, peer credit analysis and credit analysis of various companies, synthesising insights into succinct and clear views.
  • Monitor, assess and respond to relevant consultation papers by credit rating agencies, stepping back to consider broader implications for Temasek and the eco-system or industry.
  • Leverage data analytics and artificial intelligence tools to enhance productivity, analytical depth and insight generation, while retaining ownership of judgement, interpretation and the overall credit positioning narrative.

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of relevant experience in credit-related roles.
  • Prior experience at a major international credit rating agency and/or credit rating consultancy a strong advantage.
  • Recognised degree in a quantitative or analytical discipline (e.g. Business, Economics or Finance).
  • Analytical rigour and comfort working with large and complex datasets to develop clear insights and articulate the ‘so whats’.
  • Ability to pay attention to the details while bearing in mind the bigger picture and strategic imperatives.
  • Comfortable working with ambiguity
  • Adept at influencing internally and externally, across a range of seniorities.
  • Collaborative team player with very strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ownership mindset, integrity and strong work ethic, with a proactive and solutions-oriented approach.
  • Ability to juggle competing priorities.
  • Interest in building and applying AI-enabled tools or technology to enhance productivity and analytical effectiveness (experience advantageous).
